- Always And Nevers
Caring for your Genius weft tape hair extensions properly will help ensure they maintain their quality, stay looking beautiful, and last as long as possible. Here are some important instructions on what not to do when caring for your Genius weft tape hair extensions:
1. Avoid Excessive Heat:
- Don't: Use excessive heat on your extensions, such as high-temperature styling tools (flat irons, curling irons) directly on the wefts.. This can damage the hair and weaken the weft, leading to breakage and a shorter lifespan. Use on low heat and avoid the tape area as this will melt the glue making it hard to remove after .
2. Don't Wash Too Often:
- Don't: Wash your extensions too frequently 1-2 times a week, use our Dry Shampoo in between washes . Over-washing can strip the extensions of natural oils and moisture, causing them to become dry and brittle.
3. Avoid Harsh Shampoos:
- Don't: Use harsh shampoos or those with alcohol or sulfates, see our hair extensions hair care range specifically created to extend the life of your hair extensions.
4. Don't Condition the bonds:
- Don't: Apply conditioner directly to the weft. Apply to top of head and length of hair to avoid the hair extensions slipping or becoming less secure.
5. Avoid Tugging:
- Don't: Tug or pull on the extensions when brushing, styling, or detangling.
6. Don't Sleep with Wet Hair:
- Don't: Sleep with wet or damp hair extensions, its more prone to tangling
7. Avoid Swimming in Saltwater or Chlorine:
- Don't: Swim in saltwater or chlorinated pools without protecting your extensions, you can apply our Heat Protection spray with Argan Oil and tie hair up , this will avoid tangling, fading, and dryness.
8. Don't Skip Regular Maintenance:
- Don't: Neglect regular maintenance and care routines.
9. Avoid Overloading with Products:
- Don't: Overload your extensions with styling products, excessive product buildup can weigh down the extensions and make them look dull or greasy.
10. Don't Pull Tight Hairstyles:
- Don't: Pull your hair into tight hairstyles that stress the extensions, this can strain the wefts and lead to premature wear and tear.
- Don't: Wash your hair for 4 days after tapes are installed to allow them to hold correctly.

If you get a friend to help you install the tapes, you can hold the sides of the hair on each side, in front of you, this allow the tape to stay firm in place.
Application:
Before removing the tape adhesive, use your tail comb to take a small section of hair from above the tape, this is the hair that will be used to sandwich the tapes together. Clip the hair above the tape.
Ensure that there's a small gap about 2 cm between the wefts to allow for natural movement.

Repeat:
Continue with the second tape, this is the largest tape in your pack. Make sure it is placed 5cm wider than the last one . You should know have 2 layers of tape weft.
For the sides, you will continue to place two layers, making sure they are placed 3 cm from your hair line, this enables you to put your hair up without seeing the tapes.
The tapes should be placed in horizontal sections, going down the head. Be mindful of the placement, ensuring that the extensions are evenly distributed and positioned securely.
Styling and Blending:
Once all the extensions are applied, style your hair as desired. Use a hairbrush or wide-tooth comb to blend your natural hair with the extensions for a seamless look.
